Originally published: September 25, 2019

Background

In June 2019, Toronto Council amended the Apartment By-Law #354 to include new electrical maintenance requirements:

  1. An owner or operator shall create and maintain an electrical maintenance plan in collaboration with a Licensed Electrical Contractor with a valid ECRA/ESA license.

  2. The owner and operator shall maintain any information and records necessary to demonstrate compliance with the electrical maintenance plan.

The new Apartment By-Law requirements take effect October 1, 2019, the City will allow limited time for each building to comply.
